Athletes and Twitter

Athletes are fined everyday for what they say to the press or for what they do. But fining them for tweets that they post on their twitter accounts...is this fair? Do you believe athletes should be punished for voicing their opinion? It is understandable to be fined for "tweeting" during their game, but to be fined for something they say outside of the game...that's debatable.
